if you look on Howard's website www.levyland.com he lists the different keys 
harps he uses on different tunes.  At the Harponline workshop he did that I 
went to a couple of years ago he talked about studying the harmony and 
identifying the best compromise for the job.  As well as then trying a 
different key harps to see what different effects you can get.  he did talk 
about learning to play everything in all keys though.  That apoproach is 
different from the one used by people like Otavio Castro and Tinus von Kroon 
who I believe do everything on a C harp.  To my mind Sebastien Charlier is 
the other great chromatic virtuoso, although i think Jerome is better 
qualified to talk about his technique than me.

I own quite a bit of Howard Levy´s recorded output and have thus far not 
recognized any preponderance of any "one diatonic".
Au contraire, my impression is that he uses the whole panorama of diatonics: 
from the lowest to the highest. (Less often those above Eb, I think.)
